The birth of Ava DuVernay took place on the 24th of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay discovered her love for art from the aunt Denise. The aunt who was a night shift nurse, let her explore art and literature as well as the theater in the daylight. DuVernay loved the film West Side Story, which she introduced to her. DuVernay discovered by watching her mother's example how art could serve as an instrument for activism. DuVernay was educated by her mother who had a social conscience and instilled DuVernay to show her creativity through art. DuVernay was raised in Compton with her parents however, she spent her summers in Lowndes County Alabama. This is where DuVernay's father's family has lived for many generations. Her father recalled watching the Civil Rights Movement's historic march along the Edmund Pettus Bridge near the town of Selma Alabama. DuVernay visited Selma during the summer and was motivated to make a documentary about the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay graduated from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in 1990. She attended University of California Los Angeles to obtain degrees in English in addition to African American Studies. DuVernay began producing in broadcast journalism when she was in her university. She started as an intern with CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was appointed to watch and search the home for a specific Jury member. Her disappointment was evident in her journalistic duties and decided to move into the field of public relations. DuVernay was hired straight after graduating from college as a junior publicist at an unassuming studio. The company she founded for her own PR, The DuVernay Agency was created in 1999. In addition to PR, the company established several lifestyle platforms including Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley's zodiac sign is.
