Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). When she was three years old, her family relocated to the United States. Summer was a student at American and British schools as her family was living in the United States. They returned to Pasadena in the days before her 14th birthday. Summer was attracted by the idea she would eventually become an actor from the age five years old, took her first acting class when she was 14. Nine months later, Summer was signed by an agent and an manager and began to follow her goal full-time. When she isn't working, she studies at a college and working towards completing her degree. Was one of the young stars who were featured in the cover of Vanity Fair's story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began to take acting lessons when she was 14. In just an entire year, she was hired by a manager and agency. Bishil started her career as a character on the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that, she was signed to the contract of a manager and an agency. Her breakout role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, stated that "Her performance in a film that , despite its best intentions is completely fake slightly embarrassing, like an extended PSA about inappropriate touching is the most honest thing." Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the most natural actors to come out over the last few years." Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the movie Towelhead and stated that "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns in a sly, captivating performance in the role of Jasira. She filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over project in 2009 and starred Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never produced.
