Thora Birch

Thora Birch, born March 11 1982 was an American actress. Her film debut was in Purple People Eater (1988) and was awarded an Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress Under Nine Years Old". Birch became a star as a child star as she appeared in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999, she was nominated for a BAFTA nomination. In 2001, she was recognized for Best Actress for Ghost World. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance as the lead role in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Other films she has appeared in include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009) and Petunia (2012).After having off from acting, Birch was back in the spotlight in the year 2016 and since then has appeared in a variety of independent films. Birch also played the role of Whisperer Maryas well as Gamma on The Walking Dead's Season 10. Birch is Jack Birch's oldest son, was born in Los Angeles. Birch, whose family originally included the surname Biersch is German-Jewish, and Scandinavian. She also has French-Canadianand French-Canadian and Italian ancestry. [6] Her name, Thora is derived from the Norse god of lightning and thunder "Thor" that would be her name when she was a boy. She has a younger brothernamed Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are both former film actors, both of whom participated in the film Deep Throat. They were hesitant to promote Thora due to their past experience in the entertainment business. But the babysitter noticed Thora performing commercials in a similar way and convinced them to show Thora’s picture to agents. Her first break came at age four when her babysitter took her along to auditions for an Quaker Oats commercial.
